Palo Santo literally means sacred wood and, like white sage, originates from the indigenous peoples of South America. Centuries ago, it was used during ceremonies to cleanse the aura and heal negative influences. In Europe, too, people choose to buy the sacred wood to cleanse their homes or simply to enjoy its fragrance in its purest form.

The fragrance can be described as a warm, woody, and light aroma with a sweet base note. Compared to white sage (which is also used for the same purpose), Palo Santo emits a very mild aroma.
